It's intended to help you keep gear off your back and closer to your center of gravity, because climbing with a pack sucks, but being cold at every belay because you left your layers at the base sucks too.
The Micro Hauler Ultra is built with Challenge ULTRAā¢ 200X, the most advanced pack fabric on the market. Built with the same UHWMPE fibers as your dyneema climbing slings, it has extreme tear and abrasion resistance at less than half the weight of traditional ripstop. You can scrape the Micro Hauler Ultra against granite, jam it in your pack next to your pointy nut tool, and thrash it in chimneys all day ā your precious puffy will stay safe and sound.
